The Guardia Civil, as part of Operation Alada, has dismantled a criminal organisation dedicated to transporting drugs using the 'go-fast' method (transport in vehicles travelling at high speed), with five people arrested and two under investigation. The operation was set up after the Civil Guard became aware of the existence of a property in Mijas which was being used by a criminal network to store drugs which were packaged and hidden inside pneumatic tyres.
After concealment, the drugs were transported to other countries in an attempt to avoid interception at police checkpoints. The detainees, of Spanish, Ukrainian, Polish and Italian nationality, have been charged with drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal organisation. In the searches carried out, 1,670 kg of marijuana buds, two precision scales, a vaccum packaging machine, packaging material, as well as a bag containing 967 emerald crystals with an approximate value of over 500,000 euros were seized.
This operation has been carried out by members of the main post of the Guardia Civil in Mijas.
