  • The Councillor for Culture, Verónica Ensberg, and the head of the department, Francisco Gutiérrez, at the presentation of the event

This year, in addition to the three established prizes, all participants will receive a book with the best snapshots from past editions

Set your sights on Sunday the 4th of June, because a new edition of one of the most popular events of the year is coming up. We are talking about the XIV Enfoca Mijas Photographic Marathon, which, for sure, will once again bring together hundreds of enthusiasts for this discipline on the streets of the village. "I am delighted to invite amateurs and professionals to this event that, as every year, turn Mijas into their favourite muse and through their camera lenses, they capture the beauty of our municipality", said the Councillor for Culture, Verónica Ensberg (PSOE) this Monday from the Folk Museum in the Village.

Until the 4th of June, you can register for this competition, which last year attracted more than 200 photographers. You can sign up in person, from nine to two, at the Folk Museum; by telephone (952 59 03 80) or by email at maraton.enfoca.mijas@mijas.es. Again this year, there are six themes for participants of any age. "There is no age limit, we accept anyone who enjoys photography and who loves our town and wants to show us these corners; on the day itself, we will reveal the six themes that can be photographed", said the councillor.

As in previous editions, three of the photographs submitted will be awarded prizes. According to the head of the department, Francisco Gutiérrez, the prizes will be awarded by "the Foto Art Gallery, which is now run by Jesús Jaime's son and the winner will receive a photo by him; the Nuevo Enfoque collective, which will award a work by one of its members; and the Fotocolor Image Laboratory, which will present a sports camera as a prize".

This year, in addition to these prizes, all participants will receive a book with the best photographs from past editions, "in this way, the photographic marathon will also form part of the Mijas book collection, of its rich heritage; the book is a jewel, designed by Mijas Comunicación, it is a marvellous book", added Gutiérrez.

Furthermore, of all the photos submitted to the competition, 200 will be selected to produce a video and 30 for an exhibition, which together with the video, will be inaugurated on the 30th of June at the Folk Museum in Mijas Village.
