Sanitation works in the Alhamar area will begin after the summer

  • |

The works will be offered for tender for 193,000 euros and will take two months to conclude

In order to solve the sewage problems in the Alhamar urbanisation and surrounding area on the coast of Mijas, the Town Hall will install a new sewage network with separate rainwater and sewage pipes "with a 400 mm diametre pipe for rainwater and 300 mm for sewage, This will alleviate, or even eliminate, the sanitation problems that this community and the residents of this area are having", explained the councillor for Infrastructures and Works, José Carlos Martín (Cs), during a visit to the location on Tuesday morning. "The residents in this complex have septic tanks that are causing them countless problems. They will now be able to connect to the municipal sanitation network for the evacuation of their sewage through a new wastewater collection system", said Martín.

The project was awaiting authorisation from the Ministry for the Environment of the Regional Government. Once this has been obtained, the Town Hall can take the next step, which will be to put the works out to tender, valued at 193,000 euros and with a completion period of two months. These works are being undertaken with funds from the Acosol water canon. If all goes well, it is likely that by September or October, when the summer season is over, because we are in an area that attracts many tourists, the work will be ready to begin", concluded Martín.
