  • The mayor (centre) attended the first day of the course with the councillor for Employment Promotion (2nd row, 6th right)

Fifteen youths from Mijas will receive training on this subject for one year with a salary

On Thursday the 13th a group of 15 people from Mijas started a new training and employment course within the framework of Mijas Forma. They have been selected to take part in the employment programme entitled Administrative Management Activities, a complete training course lasting more than 800 hours, with work experience in the Mijas Town Hall itself, plus a specific English course to obtain the B-2. Most important of all is that while they are training they will receive a salary.

Two of the students praised the programme. Andrea Fábregas stated “I have studied Baccalaureate, I have also worked as an administrative assistant but I didn’t have a certificate of professionalism. I am very interested in this course and I hope to get the certificate soon”.

For his part, Óscar González, another student, said “I am looking forward to the course with great enthusiasm to learn. I am interested in knowing how all this works and to prosper as a person, I am going to give my all and try to be the best”.

The mayor of Mijas, Josele González (PSOE), who attended the start of the course, stressed that “all those selected are from Mijas, under 30 years of age, and will have the opportunity, over the course of a whole year, not only to be trained in administrative matters but also to learn English. In addition, they will have the opportunity to carry out an internship at the Town Hall itself”.

The councillor for Employment Promotion, Laura Moreno (PSOE), stated “we are speaking about them being able to obtain a certificate of professionalism and the course is quite long. One part will be theoretical-practical training and then they will finish with an internship at the Town Hall itself. It is essential to highlight that they are going to have a salary because they will be contracted from the first day and they will receive the minimum interprofessional wage”.

Minimum Interprofessional Wage

This programme includes a long-term training course, as it will continue until April next year, and has a salary corresponding to the minimum wage. The 15 Mijeños first went through a selection process, an English test and finally those selected started on Thursday 13th.

The director of the Mijas Forma programme, Pilar Manso, assured that “the course is very complete and the language classes are very important. As for the content, it covers everything: human resources, accounting, customer service, office automation, treasury...”.

This course is financed with state funds, with the collaboration of the Regional Government and the Town Hall.
