The Youth Department of the Mijas Town Hall presented this Monday one of its most successful campaigns for the summer, ‘Mójate con la Solidaridad’, through which free tickets to the Aquamijas water park will be exchanged for baby food or children’s hygiene products for the Mijas Red Cross. As explained on Tuesday today by the councillor for the department, Tamara Vera (PSOE), after the good reception last year, the distribution of these tickets will be carried out again by appointment, “so that all those people who are studying or working can choose the day that best suits them to exchange their tickets and they can do so from the Town Hall website”.
The campaign, which will begin on the 10th of April, is aimed at all those registered in the municipality. Once they have booked their appointment, those interested will be able to exchange their tickets at the Youth Department (Las Lagunas Theatre), i.e. they cannot be collected by other people instead, on Monday and Thursday afternoons, from 15:30 to 20:00 hours. This year, a ticket to the water park will be offered for every three items of food or children’s hygiene products delivered, always in indivisible packs. “You can collaborate by delivering milk, baby formula, baby milk, baby cereals, juices, smoothies, baby wipes, nappies, gel or shampoo, among others”, suggested the local management technician of ‘Cruz Roja Mijas’, Ander Echebarría, ensuring that “volunteers from the NGO will then be responsible for collecting and distributing all these products to families in the municipality who need them”.
It is important to remember that, among the rules of the campaign, it is established that only one appointment can be requested per participant, and that the participant can only opt for a maximum of two tickets or, in the case of a family unit, the tickets must be for the same family.
Regarding the collaboration of Aquamijas in this initiative, the director of the water park, María del Mar Asesio, explained that “both entrepreneurs and self-employed and the population of Mijas as a whole must be there to help those who need it most, because a little contribution from each of us can mean a lot to others”. As to the Aquamijas facilities, Asesio said that this year “we will open our doors a little later, on Monday 24th of April, because we are carrying out a series of reforms at the entrance to improve access and reduce queues in high season, as well as inside the park, where we have added more platforms and tables so that users can eat more comfortably, with more shade and we have also painted the slides”.
This solidarity campaign will continue until the 29th of May or until the available tickets are sold out.
