Mijas La Nueva now has a new collector. The work required an investment of 300,700 euros and took 5 months to complete. This infrastructure will improve the sanitation for the residents, as the area will have a separate network connected to the municipal water system. The works have concluded with the asphalting, repainting of the whole area and the installation of signposting. According to the councillor for Works and Infrastructures, José Carlos Martín (Cs), during his visit to the area on Monday, "what is being done is to solve the sanitation problems we have in this area, to eliminate the wastewater treatment plants and to connect all the urbanisations and residents in this area".
Specifically, this infrastructure in Mijas La Nueva involves the construction of a collector on a 1,300 linear metre route, in which there is a 315 mm diameter collector, to be complemented by the next collector in La Alquería, a project that is in the tendering process and whose works will begin shortly. The two are part of a complete project to build a network of collectors along the entire length of the border of Mijas Pueblo, in order to connect the whole area to the municipal network.
With these works, Mijas La Nueva is now connected by sewerage to La Alquería. Both areas will be connected to the municipal water network, improving the services and sanitation of these areas, which will have a separate network for rainwater and sewage. In addition to these collectors, the government team is working on the construction of two other infrastructures of this type on the east and west edges of Mijas Pueblo. The first will cover 6.6 kilometres and the second 12 kilometres.
