The councillor for Works and Infrastructures of the Mijas Town Hall, José Carlos Martín (Cs), informed this Tuesday that the local council wants to improve one of the main roads in Calahonda, specifically Calle de Los Adarves, which joins the A-7 motorway with the toll road. 
The road is divided into two sections, the first of which has been under municipal ownership for the last two years, and the second, of a private nature, which is to be developed by a neighbouring urban development sector. "The section we are dealing with, which is about 500 metres long, runs from the Calahonda roundabout towards the entrance to the motorway, and our idea is to increase the number of lanes to improve traffic flow and build two new roundabouts", explained Martín.
The project, which has already been drawn up, also includes the renovation of the drainage and sewage networks, new, wider pavements and new street lighting, "all of this to guarantee the safety of drivers and pedestrians", emphasised the councillor.
According to Martín, the project will require an investment of approximately 3.5 million euros and will take six months to complete. "It is a project that, initially, will not require any type of sectorial report, except for the lower part for one of the roundabouts, so we will be ready to carry it out as soon as we have funding, through a budget amendment or by including it in the next Budget", he concluded.
