The councillor for infrastructures, José Carlos Martín, reports that the project for the complete renovation of this road has been finalised

The first deputy mayor of Mijas and councillor for Infrastructures and Works, José Carlos Martín (Cs), announced yesterday morning that the Town Hall has received the draft project for the complete renovation of Las Mimosas Avenue, so the department is now ready to put the works out to tender. "We are talking about a necessary intervention for the road safety of the residents and for the improvement of mobility, as, at the moment, the area does not have pavements and pedestrians and vehicles have to share the space, as well as not having adequate accessibility", points out the councillor, who adds that "a complete renovation is going to be carried out which will change and improve all the services, as well as making the area more accessible".

The estimate for the public tender is 1.2 million euros and the execution period is 6 months. "We are going to modernise the canalisations with the implementation of a separate network for rainwater and sewage, as well as a water supply, telecommunications and telephone network", says the deputy mayor. This project will also develop the burying of the public lighting power line and the change of the lighting fixtures to LED technology.

The complete remodelling of Avenida de Las Mimosas is underway to reorganise the use of the space in a more rational way. To this end, pedestrian traffic will be safely continued from Calle Carabelas and Avenida del Descubrimiento so that pedestrians and vehicles do not share space. The remodelling does not imply an increase in traffic, but rather a reorganisation for greater safety, accessibility and coexistence. "We are going to separate vehicular and pedestrian traffic by building pavements on both sides of the road and relocating the car parks, which will be located on the sides of the road and in a central strip in line", Martín points out.

This work is divided into three sections. The first is between Calle Carabelas and the access roundabout from the A7, the intermediate section between the roundabout and the access curve to Avenida del Descubrimiento and the final connection section, all of them with one lane in each direction.
