“Accessible, efficient and useful” is how the councillor responsible for New Technologies, Nicolás Cruz (PSOE), defines the Gecor application. By using this app, the councillor reported, we can notify any incident related to any department of the Mijas Town Hall: pavements, cleaning, street furniture, sanitation or manholes, among others.
Since 2019, the year it was implemented in Mijas, citizens have reported almost 32,000 alerts and a solution has been given to more than 70%. “Gecor has become a real communication channel between the Town Hall and the citizens, it is the official route to transmit any incident on the public road”, said Cruz, who added that of the remaining 30%, almost 13% corresponds to incidents that are not within the municipal scope.
The use of this app in Mijas, which is also implemented in 50% of the municipalities of Andalusia, is showing results, not only in the communication of incidents but also in their management, in comparison to other localities. “For a municipality with the characteristics of Mijas, they have meant 137% more than what other municipalities are doing, which shows the great participation, the great utility and efficiency that the citizens perceive when it comes to managing the incidents that they report from the public roads”, the councillor pointed out.
Another of the aspects to be taken into account is the user experience with Gecor: it is almost outstanding. “Out of 5, the procedure, the management of these incidents, is rated with a 4.33, which is a rating well above average compared to other municipalities”, said the councillor, who recalled that Mijas was recognised at the urban intelligence and sustainability forum Greencities for its intelligent municipal management with Gecor last September, “for having exceeded the averages of the indicators of incident management, users and quality of service”.
This application is available in its desktop version through the website gecorweb.com and for mobile devices.
