The first deputy mayor and councillor for Infrastructures and Works, José Carlos Martín, announced on Thursday 29th that the ‘V Asphalting Plan in Urbanisations of Mijas’ has already begun, with an investment of 1.6 million euros. “A total of 15 urbanisations are going to benefit this time from the project, which is now in its fifth edition. With this plan we intend to respond to a historical claim by the urbanisations of the town that request improvements on their roads and with which from the area for Infrastructures and Works we have been carrying out work to improve road safety in these areas through a series of resurfacing works under the legal umbrella of the subsidy in kind”, clarified Martín. A total of 47 streets will be fully or partially affected, with a distance of 15 kilometres of asphalting between them.

“The works will not only renew the paving but also the signposting of the roads, providing greater guarantees and safety for all road users”, added the councillor. The work began in Urbanización Doña Pilar and will be extended in the coming weeks to the following urbanisations: Ana María, Buganvillas, Calahonda, Campomijas, Chalets Rocío, Cortijo Calahonda, El Coto, Gran Calahonda, La Sierrezuela, Los Olivos phase 1 and 2, Mijas Golf, Miraflores and Playa Marina. In the same way, the Department for Infrastructures and Works continues to shape the sixth Asphalting Plan that will be launched in 2023, so that soon the rest of the urbanisations that need to improve the asphalting of their streets will be included in this renovation project that is being developed by the Town Hall and that responds to the needs of the urbanisations. In addition to the ‘Plan de Asfaltado en Urbanizaciones’, the Mijas Town Hall implements every year an ‘Asphalt Conservation and Maintenance Plan’ as well as the ‘Asphalt Improvement and Repair Plan’, both carried out by Operational Services.
