The Lions Club of La Cala has collected food, beverages and typical gifts for 30 families from Mijas. The delivery was made on Monday 19th from the charity shop that the association has in Torremolinos street, in La Cala. The Department for Foreigners thanked the charity for its solidarity work. “They are once again collaborating so that these families receive the typical food that we enjoy at this time of year and so that the magic of Christmas reaches all homes, a task that we are grateful for and support”, said the councillor for the Department, Arancha López (Cs). Caritas will now be in charge of distributing the donations to families with few resources.
According to the Lions Club representative, Juliet Barry, “we started this during COVID to help Caritas and local families so that they could have nice things and presents for the children over Christmas and it has grown every year. The whole community brings gifts, food and we give it to Caritas; we also have help from Miraflores Golf Ladies.
Ana María Berdugo, director of Caritas La Cala, thanked the Lions Club “for their help and collaboration over the last three years and especially now at Christmas, when we have families who need to provide food and toys for the children for Three Kings Day and they delivered supplies for 30 families”.
