The event is free of charge and will take place on November 16th at the La Cala Branch Offices

In 1981 two Australian directors filmed, in Villaluenga del Rosario, a documentary about rural life in Spain. This material fell into oblivion and was not released until 2019 and now comes to Mijas by the hand of the Press Club and the Department for Foreigners. "The team travelled to this village to reflect what life was like in 1981 among the inhabitants of the village and what is most interesting is that there is no commentary, except for the questions and the images", said Jasper Sander Pedersen, president of the Costa Press Club.

In this regard, the councillor for Foreigners in Mijas, Arancha López (Cs), said she was pleased to be able to premiere this documentary exclusively in the province of Málaga "which will take us back 40 years and where we will be able to see how life was lived in the south of Andalusia and how the foreigners who visited us at that time saw us".

This is the first time that this short film will be screened on the Costa del Sol. The researcher and university professor Antonio Javier González, author of the book 'El pueblo y yo', will be in charge of guiding us through the activity, which is completely free of charge. "He got hold of a copy of the raw material and a couple of years ago he visited the village and located some of the people and relatives of the people who appeared in 81", said Sander, adding that "not only will we see the screening of the documentary, but the promoter and author of this project will go deeper and answer questions, offering a broader vision of Andalusia in 1981 and Andalusia in 2022".

The activity, free of charge until full capacity is reached, will take place on the 16th of November at the La Cala Branch Offices at 18:30. "We encourage both Spaniards and foreigners to come and enjoy this activity, learn about how we lived, what our culture and traditions were like and what vision the foreigners who visited us had of us", concluded López.
