In the first edition of the Ruta de la Tapa de Las Lagunas, a total of 12 establishments from Las Lagunas are taking part

On the occasion of the ‘Ruta de la Tapa’ in Las Lagunas, the Department for Transport and Mobility informs that a free tourist train service has been set up to "improve mobility and encourage the participation of citizens in this type of event. Our intention is to continue to bring our neighbours and visitors to the activities that are programmed and in turn promote sustainable mobility in the town", adds the councillor responsible for the area, Nicolás Cruz (PSOE).  The tourist train will run every Saturday in November, from 13:00 to 15:00 and from 19:30 to 23:30, on a circular route of approximately seven kilometres non-stop.
"The truth is that we are very happy that this initiative is being carried out. The tapas route is proving very successful. There are many restaurants and shops that are congratulating us and are very happy to participate in this initiative", said Charini Cortés, president of the Federation of Associations of Mijas, a group that collaborates with the Tourism Department in the implementation of this gastronomic route. "Now that we have the little train doing the route on Saturdays, the truth is that it will encourage visitors much more and will help mobility in Las Lagunas, so that not so much traffic is generated. The truth is that we are very happy", Cortes added.
In the first edition of the Ruta de la Tapa de Las Lagunas, a total of 12 establishments from Las Lagunas are taking part, testing the taste buds of locals and visitors every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, from 13:00 to 15:30 and from 19:30 to 23:30. This route will be active until the 1st of December and you can enjoy a tapa and a drink for just three euros.
"From the Department for Transport and Mobility we continue to collaborate with the groups and the business community, not only with Las Lagunas, but also with the other nuclei of Mijas. This tourist train has two objectives, to provide service to the Ruta de la Tapa and therefore to the 12 establishments that participate in it, bringing people closer to these establishments and, on the other hand, to make the centre of Las Lagunas more visible", said Cruz.
Provoletas, parrilladas, ensaladilla rusa or a potato omelette are some of the proposals that can be savoured on this route which, like the one in Mijas Pueblo, has a ‘ Tapaporte’. The person who completes the whole route and stamps each of the boxes on this document will receive a direct gift (while stocks last) and will participate in the final draw for other prizes.
