Provocation and Wildness close the Cala Mijas International Festival

  • Concerts by Liam Gallagher, Nathy Peluso, or Love of Lesbian close the Cala Festival International first edition |

Liam Gallagher, Fuel Fandango, Nathy Peluso, Love of Lesbian, Nina Kraviz, and León Benavente, among many others, have put the perfect finishing

After three intense days of music, a good atmosphere, and performances of different levels, the first edition of the Cala Mijas International Festival comes to an end. Liam Gallagher, Fuel Fandango, Nathy Peluso, Love of Lesbian, Nina Kraviz, and León Benavente, among many others, have put the perfect finishing touch to a festival that has brought together thousands of people at the Sonora Mijas. A new venue that has hosted four stages with a wide variety of musical styles.

The festival's ticket sales skyrocketed when the organisers announced that Liam Gallagher had joined the line-up. The English singer, songwriter, critic, and musician did not disappoint his thousands of fans who came to Mijas to see him live. Known for having been the lead singer of Oasis and Beady Eye, the group formed by some Oasis members after they split up, the artist, one of the leaders of the Britpop movement in the 90s, confirmed in Mijas why he continues to be one of the most characteristic and recognisable figures in British music.

Another of the stars of the night, who added a spicy and provocative touch to the closing night, was the Argentinian Nathy Peluso. She rocked, and not just with her heartbreaking voice. Her movements, costumes, and daring made the audience give in to her. The Argentinian-Spanish singer and composer, who fuses genres such as hip hop, soul, trap, jazz, rap, salsa, and swing, brought together a very different kind of audience. Everyone surrendered to her, especially when, visibly moved, she thanked the audience for the affection shown during her performance in Mijas.

The last night started with Fuel Fandango, a duo formed by the producer Alejandro Acosta and the Cordovan singer Cristina Manjón, better known as Nita. It is the producer's new project after his previous group Mojo Project, with which he managed to be named the Spanish revelation group of 2014 by the newspaper El País. The group also left its essence on the Victoria stage in front of a devoted audience who didn't mind sweating under the sun to see one of their favourite bands.

And, to round off this first edition, the indie rock band 'Love Of Lesbian', among others, did not disappoint on the Victoria stage either. The band, from San Vicente dels Horts (Barcelona), began its artistic career in the autumn of 1997 and is still active today, attracting thousands of fans at concerts such as last nights at the Sonora Mijas.

A festival that makes history
Thus concludes three days of high-level music in a new venue that has come to stay and has managed to bring together a line-up of artists never seen before in the province of Malaga. Thousands of people from all over the country and from many other countries have visited Mijas from Thursday 1st to Saturday 3rd September, dates that will remain marked in the town's calendar and the history of Mijas. Never before has the town organised and hosted an event of such magnitude, which has mobilised so many people and has required the security, and cleaning deployment of such characteristics.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the Cala Mijas International Festival is here to stay, and from Mijas Comunicación, we predict a future for it.
