The Councillor for Health at Mijas Town Hall, Candela León (Cs), reminded citizens on Tuesday that they can use the Gecor App to report the presence of insect or rodent pests on public roads. This platform is useful and an easily accessible tool that encourages the residents' participation in the city maintenance, in this case, related to the proliferation of insects or rodents in parts of the municipality. "It is an App we have been using in Mijas Town Hall for several years, and it works quite well, at least in matters that concern our department as Serviplaga takes immediate action as soon as we receive the incident," said León.
The Councillor also explained that social networks "are not official channels for communicating this issue, and for those residents who do not use the Gecor platform, "they can also make their requests through the Health Department" by calling 952 478 878 and sending an email to sanidad@mijas.es.
She also clarified the Mijas Town Hall only acts on public roads, although if the pest comes from a private plot, "Health tries to contact the owner to clean the area, all to prevent the pest from spreading again".
Finally, the head of the Health Department highlighted the work carried out by the company Serviplaga, not only in the streets "but also in schools and municipal buildings, where disinfection and pest prevention work is carried out throughout the year".
