The Councillor for Festivities and the Senior Citizens Department of Mijas Town Hall, Tamara Vera (PSOE), has announced, this Monday, the date for the traditional dinner in tribute to the senior citizens on the occasion of the Mijas Fair. It will take place next Wednesday, 7th September, in the Municipal Stand that will be set up in the Virgen de la Peña Square. "We know it is a long-awaited dinner for all our seniors as they have not been able to share this important social event for three years," said the Councillor. Also, she added, "we are organising this event with great affection because we want our seniors to enjoy this well-deserved evening".
Those interested in attending the evening, she went on to explain, will have to collect their tickets in the Mijas Pueblo Pensioners' Home in advance. They will be able to do so until next Friday, 12th August, from 9 am to 2 pm. "Those in possession of their municipal pensioner's card will be able to collect their ticket, and with this pass, they will have free entry to the dinner," said Vera.
Some 400 elderly from Mijas will enjoy this traditional dinner that, among other moments of the evening, will include the participation of Juan Jesús Leiva's dance groups and the election of the grandfather and grandmother of the 2002 Mijas Fair. "Without forgetting the live music or the party that we leave at the end of the evening for our elderly people to have a good dance," concluded the head of Festivities and Elderly People's Department.
