The First Deputy Mayor and Tourism Councillor, José Carlos Martín (Cs), presented on Thursday, 30th, at the XIV ‘Ruta de la Tapa’. Every Tuesday and Thursday of July and August, those who wish may come to Mijas Pueblo to enjoy a tapa, drink or an ice cream for only 3 euros in the participating establishments. “Once, this year, we are committed to this formula to boost the local economy in the summer nights. We are promoting our gastronomic sector under a unique landscape of a typical Andalusian village so demanded by visitors”, said the Councillor.
This initiative will be underway, and seven locals will be exhibiting their tapas from 7.30 pm to 11 pm. We can find in the Bar ‘Tú Sabrás’, the spinach and prawn roll ‘Tú Sabrás’; in the Cafetería Bellavista, the ‘Fajitas de pulled pork with pico de Gallo; in the Cafetería Mijhitas ice cream parlour, the ‘Sweet heart’; in the Café Bar Porras, the Crispy Curry Prawn Nest with Pepper Jam’; Muskoka Burger, the ‘Muskoka Beef Burger Croquette’; Casa Esteban Ice Cream Parlour, the ‘Mandarin Delight’; and La Bóveda del Flamenco, the ‘Popeye Skewers’.

The head of the Tourism Department, Juan Carlos Acevedo, stressed that in this edition the main “novelty is the tapas themselves. The participating establishments have made a great effort to innovate, present better, and work more on the tapas. We have found a perfect balance between the different options on offer this summer”.
The Department is setting up a ‘Tapasport, a passport where all the participants will be listed.

Users can pick it up when the route starts at the Tourist Office in the town centre to stamp it every time they eat at one of the establishments. Once the ‘Tapasport’ is complete, they will have the chance to vote for their favourite tapas and place it in the office to be eligible for different gifts in a draw at the end of the summer. The favourite recipe of the winner of ‘Tapasport’ will be announced. 
“We will give away a beach cooler and a water park ticket to all the people who finish the route directly. In addition, in the draw to be held on the last Thursday of August, we will have other gifts by the traders,” concluded Martín.
