The party will take place this Saturday 11th June from 8.30 pm in the Virgen de la Peña square

Get your hips in rhythm as 'Noche Latina' is coming back, almost a decade after its last edition. Mijas has everything ready to celebrate this Saturday again this festival, in which there will be music and dance performances and lots of entertainment. This is what the Councillor for Tourism, José Carlos Martín (Cs), recalls that "within the programme of events that the Tourism Department is carrying out, we are starting with the Latin Night. I think it will attract many tourists, and many people from outside our municipality. It is a great attraction this mixture of Latin, Cuban, Mexican, Colombian dance...,etc. We are bringing fashionable and renowned artists".

The party will be held this Saturday, 11th June, in the Plaza Virgen de la Peña. Entertainment will be provided by groups such as: Mariachis al Son de México, the orchestra La-Tino Kali, and Show de Brazil. There will also be a tribute to the legendary Cuban orchestra Buena Vista Social Club. The night will be rounded off by Eddy McLean's orchestra. "I encourage all those who listen and watch us come here on Saturday, from 8:30 pm onwards. There will be performances of all kinds: live music, entertainment, bachata, salsa..., etc. I think that all this atmosphere, mixed with the unique attraction our town already has, makes for a fantastic night", the Councillor points out.

The Latin flavour will also be present in the gastronomy, with the participation of the Mijas Traders Association and the town's establishments, especially those in the Virgen de la Peña Square, which will offer Latin American products such as Mexican tacos, and Venezuelan arepas.

Easy access to the fiesta

To facilitate access to the fiesta, the Department of Transport is starting up the shuttle bus and reinforcing the Mijas-Fuengirola line. "For all those who want to visit the town for this important event, on the 11th night, we will provide parking. Visitors who want to come in their car can park in the Quarry of the Port, from eight in the afternoon to two in the morning. Then they can go to the centre of town, next to the Virgen de la Peña Square, on the shuttle bus, which is also free. But we are also reinforcing the Fuengirola-Mijas line with seven more trips," says the Councillor, Nicolás Cruz (PSOE).

The last journey of this bus will leave at 02:00 am from Fuengirola and at 2:30 am from Mijas. "And the shuttle bus has a frequency of 15 or 20 minutes, although there will even be nights when we will have more than one vehicle, depending on the circumstances, the frequencies will be practically ten minutes. In this way, we have a free quality service that helps the town surrounding area to maintain appropriate mobility", Cruz points out.

So, if you want to travel around Latin America, dance and have a lively night out, all you have to do is come up to Mijas this Saturday. Admission, as always, is free.
