As it did in Las Lagunas, the Health Department will deliver a talk on the responsible use of screens among minors in Mijas Pueblo. The activity, aimed at mothers and fathers with young children or teenagers, on the 1st of June, in the Town Hall plenary hall.
The initiative is part of the 'Better prevention' programme, explained by the Health Councillor, Candela León (Cs). It offers tips on video games' minors use, social networks and mobile phones. "We know that the screens can cause health problems such as headaches, sleeping disorders or behavioural problems. Therefore, we want to offer parents some guidelines so they know how to use these devices, when they can let them use them, or how long they should be using them depending on the child's age," said the Councillor.
The first talk, included in this initiative, took place at the Tamixa Primary school last March. It was well received by families "who had the chance to get answers to their main concerns on this subject", said León, pointing out that "this talk will be given by the psychologist from the Health Department, Ana Belén García, with the collaboration of the Mijas Communication journalist Micaela Fernández. Micaela, in recent months, has published a section called 'Families and screens' in the Mijas Semanal newspaper".
The talk will start at 6:30 pm on 1st June and is completely free, "although families who wish to attend will have to confirm their attendance by emailing sanidad@mijas.es or sending a WhatsApp to the Department's telephone number (618 929 005)".
