The section of this project connects “Mijas La Nueva” with “La Alquería”, and will have a separate sewage and rainwater network

After having the Environment and Roads’ approval, the works project for the connection to the sewerage network in the”Mijas La Nueva” area has been put out to tender. It was announced on Tuesday 4th, from Mijas Town Hall by the Councillor for Infrastructures and Works, José Carlos Martín (Cs), and the Councillor for Contracting, Roy Pérez (PSOE). “The Mijas La Nueva collector with that of La Alquería will mean that all these nearby urbanisations can have a direct connection to the sewage system. In addition, these urbanisations, which have an alternative sewage system, such as treatment plants or other elements, will be able to stop using it and join these collectors, which is the most common way of evacuating sewage”, said Martín.

The project to connect “Mijas La Nueva” to “La Alquería” has a collector with a diameter of 315 millimetres and a length of 1,300 metres. “It is going out to tender with an investment of 411,000 euros and a completion period of five months,” said Pérez, who added that “the work is already on the contracting platform, so any interested company can visit the public platform and submit their bids until the 23rd of May”. “On that day, the deadline ends, and we will begin with the contracting tables,” he clarified.

It is expected that work could begin in autumn on this collector, which, in a second action, will be joined to another, the La Alquería collector, whose connection to the municipal sewerage network is also in the pipeline. It already has the sectoral report from the Environment and is awaiting the “Carreteras” report. “Once we have it, we will start the works and those of this collector as, in the end, this branch will work when the two sections are connected. The one that is now out to tender, the one in “Mijas La Nueva”, and the one in “La Alquería”, Martín stressed.
For the Infrastructure and Works Councillor, the “Mijas La Nueva” sewerage project “is important” for residents who live in these rural areas. “It will allow us to connect the sewerage to the municipal network, which will give them all a leap in quality,” he added.
