Foreign residents living in our municipality are faced with all kinds of doubts, as the tax systems of the different countries concerning Spain are very different. Intending to clear up any possible doubts, the Foreigners Department of Mijas Town Hall organised an informative talk on Wednesday 6th April on the tax issues that most concern residents in Mijas. The event, held in the auditorium of the Mayor’s Office in La Cala, was attended by the firms My Lawyer in Spain and Blacktower.
“We provided this talk to explain to foreign residents issues such as capital gains, taxes, inheritance, powers of attorney, or any other tax or administrative procedures that they need to carry out,” said Area Councillor Arancha López (Cs). “Different tax systems that need to be explained, and obligations for those who live here all year round and become tax residents,” explained Tim Govaerts, a financial advisor at Blacktower.
The settlement of municipal capital gains, for example, has become a complex and controversial issue. Therefore, it was one of the points to be addressed by expert lawyers and lawyers from My Lawyer in Spain and Blacktower, who were in charge of clarifying the doubts of those present. “We help foreign residents in matters such as residency, taxes, investments,” Govaerts pointed out.
