The Beaches Councillor, José Carlos Martín, chairs a meeting where several municipal areas have been coordinated to implement the roadmap

The First Deputy Mayor of Mijas and Beaches Councillor, José Carlos Martín (Cs), this morning, chaired the beach management body of Mijas Town Council, where the work lines for this season have been drawn up in order to continue improving the quality of the Mijas coastline. "From the Department, we coordinate, every year, in a transversal way, with other Council areas our project and, together, get the Mijas coast to be one of southern Spain's leading sun and beach destinations," said Martin. He added that "one of the issues that have been put on the table is the auditors' upcoming visits. They have to certify the quality of our beaches and the services we provide to renew all our quality certifications''.

The meeting was attended by the Department responsible, other municipal areas maintenance responsible, Mijas coastline cleaning and safety, as well as professionals from the sector, and the person responsible for the OCA Global audit in the city. "Quality is essential now, more than ever, in such a competitive tourist market. The water and sand cleanliness, the environmental surroundings, the native fauna and flora as well as the accessibility and the services provided, are of vital importance in the summer of economic recovery," says Martín.

The local administration will continue to fight for these quality distinctions it has, and defends it with every action, pampering the Mijas coastline every day. Among the awards that Mijas possess are the three blue flags on the beaches of La Cala-Torreón, El Bombo and Calahonda I-Royal Beach-La Luna, as well as the unique Blue Centre for El Torreón in La Cala, and the Blue Trail for the Coastal Path, in the province of Malaga. To this, we can add the ISO14001 environmental management system, and the Safe Tourism Certified from COVID-19 on our coast, which guarantees visitors safety, nine 'Q' Quality flags, and four Universal Accessibility beaches.
