Mijas continues to work on its beaches for this summer. This morning, the Mijas Mayor, Josele González (PSOE), and the Beaches Councillor, José Carlos Martín (Cs), attended the 45th edition of Expoplaya opening. An exhibition of hospitality and beach items that present an opportunity for development for entrepreneurs in the sector.
The Mijas Councillor explained that "it is an opportunity to meet with all the beach entrepreneurs from our municipality and others again. It is important to know what the peculiarities and innovations are. Also, the different innovations that exist in terms of beaches. Besides, all beaches are not the same. Actually, in Mijas, we have all types of beaches". "This event is held after two years, due to the pandemic, and serves to give the starting signal for the season. This year, we hope it will be much more fruitful, and that our tourism sector and our beaches shine more than ever," said Martin.
This summer, the municipality is expected to recover the tourism figures before the pandemic, which is why the council continues to work hand in hand with local businesses and shows its support by attending exhibitions such as this one. Mijas is a benchmark in beach tourism as, in addition to having 14 kilometres of coastline, in 2021, it had a total of 17 awards: three blue flags, nine Q Quality flags, an ISO 14001 flag, the Safe Tourism Certified seal and the Andalusia Segura seal, the only Blue Trail in the Malaga province awarded to the Coastal Path as it passes through the town and, the Blue Centre at the Torreón.
