The Mijas Town Council's Department of the Environment has put out to tender the renovation of the information signs, signs and beacons that the Department offers on nature trails, beaches and other green spaces in the municipality. According to the Councillor for the area, Arancha López (Cs), the signs for the 57 unique trees catalogued in Mijas, will also be changed and, "as a novelty, as well as including a photograph of the tree itself, we will add a QR code with more information about the specimen, also offering this information in other languages for people of other nationalities".
López also explained that the contract for this service is three years, plus two renewable years, and has an initial investment of 30,000 euros per year. As for the company chosen to carry out these works, the Mijas Town Hall "has valued the commitment to use wood from sustainable forests in the creation of these elements".
Finally, the Councillor announced that the Environment Department is working on other new projects, this time aimed at people who practice hiking in the Mijas mountains, "and in this sense, we ask them that, just as we work for the public, they should also make responsible use of our mountains and their trails, with good habits and being aware that they are in a natural area," said the Councillor.
