Cleaning students practice at the senior citizens’ centre in La Cala

  • The students spent the whole morning cleaning the bar of these premises thoroughly |

Included in the Mijas Impulsa programme, the training has a duration of 300 hours, 80 of which are practical

As part of their apprenticeship, the fifteen students of the Surface Cleaning course, included in the Mijas Impulsa programme, developed on Tuesday 25th, one of their first practices. The group went to La Cala Senior’s Citizen House to clean the bar of these facilities thoroughly, which is temporarily closed to the public. “The Senior’s Councillor has collaborated with the Department of Employment Promotion to help students to put into practice the contents they learn in this cleaning course, and we have seen fit to carry out this activity in La Cala Senior’s Citizen Bar, whose service we will soon tender to reopen its doors to the public,” explained the Senior’s Citizen Councillor, Tamara Vera (PSOE).
During the morning, the students “have had the opportunity to approach many different surfaces, both in the dining area and in the kitchen of the bar, so it is a very complete practice for them,” said the teacher Josefa Corbacho, who also appreciated that the group “is working very well, and is striving hard to get everything ahead, and hopefully they will achieve their goal of finding a job.

Contents of the course This training action, financed through European funds, consists of 300 hours. It distributes in five modules. “We are currently learning different techniques for cleaning floors, cleaning interior furniture and cleaning toilets, something that seems simple but is not, because in each case, a different product or material is needed,” said student Yohanna Tallada. In addition to the theoretical part, this course includes 80 hours of work experience in companies. Once completed, the students will obtain a certificate of professionalism that will allow them to work throughout Europe. In the previous edition of the course, the employment rate was close to 80 per cent. “The students will finish almost at the end of March, just before Easter, so we think that we will have a high insertion rate again, especially in hotels, which is where we have more demand for qualified personnel,” concluded the Councillor for Employment Promotion, Laura Moreno (PSOE).
