Mijas Town Hall Social Services has carried out an extensive refurbishment of the offices in La Cala de Mijas, to respond to the growing demand in the coastal town. The Councillor for Social Services, Hipólito Zapico (PSOE), this morning, gave a description of what was done with the council's resources: "A reception area was created so that users do not have to wait in the street to be attended to. The façade was painted, and two more offices with a meeting area were created so that the different professionals and teams working in La Cala de Mijas can attend to people in the best possible way".
The offices in the centre of La Cala de Mijas were enlarged to respond to population growth.
This facility designed with a smaller scope of coverage at the time adapts to the demographic growth of La Cala de Mijas, which, as in the rest of the municipality, means that the demand for services is bigger. In addition to the population growth, the pandemic has also drawn a new scenario in the area. "The demand for this service has grown a lot in the nucleus. The telephone attention has also allowed, and made easier for users to contact us, during these last two years," said social worker Antonia Sanchez.
