Once again this year, the volunteers of the Lions Club of La Cala have collected Christmas food and toys so that 25 families in the municipality with few economic resources can spend a happier Christmas. "For us, it is a pleasure to prepare these packages, in which we add food, drinks and typical Christmas sweets, as well as 21 toys", explained David Key, president of this club from La Cala.
Caritas La Cala will now distribute these bags to underprivileged families in La Cala. "This is a coordinated work between both groups, in fact, Caritas previously provided the Lions Club with a list of the beneficiary families, where the ages of the children who will receive these gifts are also mentioned so that they are as personalised as possible", said the Councillor for Foreigners of Mijas Town Council, Arancha López (Cs), who was also present at this delivery.
The Lions Club of La Cala has been helping in the municipality for more than 20 years, and a large part of the funds they raise come from the charity shop that opens its doors daily to the public in Torremolinos street. "They make a great contribution in Mijas, and not only at Christmas time, but also throughout the year. From Mijas Town Hall we can only thank them for all the solidarity work they carry out and support them in whatever is necessary, as their service has a positive impact on many residents”, concluded the Councillor.
