The M-119 bus line incorporates a new on-demand service in Riviera and Calahonda

  • This system will also be applied on the M-223 line, at the Avenida de España bus stop in Mijas Golf
  • The Councillor for Mobility and Transport, Nicolás Cruz, with the technician in charge of the department, Paqui Lavado.

Buses will be able to stop in Calle Músicos, in Riviera del Sol Phase 8, and in the area of Cascadas de Calahonda, as long as the users request it beforehand

The M-119 bus line, which connects different urbanisations on the coast of Mijas with the centre of Las Lagunas, incorporates from Monday, a new transport system on-demand at two new stops: the roundabout at Calle Músicos, in Riviera del Sol Phase 8, and the area of Cascadas de Calahonda. This was announced today by the Councillor for Transport and Mobility of Mijas Town Council, Nicolás Cruz (PSOE), who explained that through the application or the website of the Transport Consortium (www.ctmam.es), users can request the bus to pick them up at these specific points, which are outside the usual route.

"Those interested can make their request the day before, clearly describing the time and route in which they wish to use the service, and the Consortium will make all the arrangements for the bus to deviate from the route and pick up the user", specified Cruz, adding that the Consortium "also offers a telephone number (951 920 267) to carry out this same procedure".

According to the Councillor, this same service will also be applied on the M-223 line, which adds an occasional stop on Avenida de España, in Mijas Golf, as well as on the M-156 line, "which a few months ago implemented this system for Calle Equitación, in the area surrounding the racecourse". The aim of the Department of Transport is  "to bring people who live in remote areas of urbanisations closer to the most important population centres such as La Cala, or neighbouring municipalities such as Fuengirola or Marbella".

This measure, concluded Cruz, is a response to requests made by the residents of Riviera and Calahonda, "and we are sure that many residents will be grateful because this diversion of the route will not be detrimental in terms of timetables and delays", concluded the Councillor.
