Due to the pandemic, La Cala Lion’s Club has not organised this event since 2019, a walk to raise awareness of this health problem among citizens. But next Sunday, 14th of November, they will have their walk “Move against Diabetes” which will start at the El Torreón square at 11am. “We’ll go through the Senda Litoral – seaside trail – returning back to El Torreón, where stalls will be set up, Zumba activities, medieval fight exhibitions and stands where free blood sugar tests will be offered”, according to Ana María Savastano, member of the Lion’s Club.
Once again, this year, the Town Hall of Mijas is also collaborating with this association. Arancha López (Cs), Councillor of the Foreigners Department said that “as the Foreigners Department we join in to celebrate World Diabetes Day”, adding that “the walk fits all ages and aims to raise awareness for this illness”. You don’t need to sign up to join in this activity”.
“Water will be available throughout the walk, in case Sunday is a sunny day”, said the Councillor for Sports, Andrés Ruiz (Cs). From the Sports Department, we want to support this initiative to promote healthy habits and draw attention to this health issue”.
