This audio-visual production, created by the municipal company Mijas Comunicación, will be presented next Saturday, 6th of November

Earlier this year, the group came up with the idea to produce a special video to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Soroptimist International Costa del Sol in Mijas and to thank all the different associations for their collaboration over all those years.

This audio-visual production, created by the municipal company Mijas Comunicación, will be presented next Saturday, 6th of November, during the anniversary celebration of Soroptimist International. The video, which lasts five minutes, is based on the song ‘Jerusalema’, “an African song and dance known worldwide”, according to the group. Those participating in the video include a group of members of Soroptimist, the Mijas Unión Basket Mini Femenino Soroptimist girls team, sponsored by Soroptimist; the dance group Mississippi Coasters Linedancers; the Foreign Residents Department, as well as the Social Services and Environmental municipal departments of the Mijas Town Hall; the Local Police; the Viogenex group, with which Soroptimist International collaborates on helping victims of gender violence, especially foreign women; the Red Cross and the Food Bank of Mijas, as Soroptimist contributes to their activity bringing food, fresh fruit and vegetables”, and finally, Mijas Comunicación with a group of workers representing the company staff.

“We started rehearsing this dance back in March, in the midst of the pandemic, obviously complying with all the restrictions imposed back then. It was a great opportunity to see each other and spend a great time with all the groups participating, learning the dance steps under the supervision and guidance of Jenny van der Mark, member of Soroptimist and dance teacher from the Mississippi Coasters”, said Anette Skou, from Soroptimist and coordinating the project.

“This video is a way to show our appreciation for all our collaborators that work with us throughout the year and at the same time celebrate our 15th anniversary in Mijas, which coincides with the 100th anniversary of Soroptimist International around the world”, highlighted the president of the association, Laura Dominguez. She added: “we are especially thankful to Mijas Comunicación for producing the video and promoting our work and projects in Mijas all through the year”.
