After a stop for a rest at the gates of the Mijas Village Folk Museum, the participants in this new edition of Mijas Secrets continued their journey. This was a route that went through the streets of the village on the morning of Sunday 17th and also included the participation of the councillor for Foreigners, Arancha López (Cs).
On these routes, the participants “come from different parts of Mijas to learn a little about the history of the town. In it, we talked about what life was like before the tourist boom and the arrival of new foreign residents who began to arrive in the 1950s”, explained tourist guide Pia Bruun.
According to councillor López, Mijas Secrets is conceived as “an excellent opportunity to make its culture and history known. Therefore, we continue with the tours that have enjoyed the most demand, such as the ‘Mijas Memory’ or the ‘Handicrafts’, and we have also included new ones such as a visit to a farm in the municipality so that the participants know more about the livestock of the town and how this activity has changed”, added the councillor.
Likewise, from the Foreigners Department they also assured that they are open to extend dates and, also, to listen to proposals from neighbours for future new excursions.
Among the tourists who participated in this new edition, was Lars Andersen, a Danish resident in Estepona who was not visiting our village for the first time: “We have visited Mijas twice but we had only seen the centre, the donkeys, the bars and souvenir shops. Now, with this route, we will get to know the village better and we will know a little more about its culture and history”.
