‘Correos’ has 2,370 customer service points throughout all of Spain, four of them in Mijas

Mijas citizens can now pay their taxes and municipal debts at any Post Office in Spain. The Local Council in Mijas and this state company have signed a collaboration agreement this week to facilitate the process for taxpayers, who will only have to go to the Post Office with the so-called ‘Carta de Pago’ (Letter of Payment).

“On the said letter of payment, a barcode appears where the amount to be paid is identified, either in cash or by card and, after this step, an admission receipt is attached”, explained the manager of Services for the southern area of ‘Correos’, Gregorio Morales.

For his part, the mayor of Mijas, Josele González (PSOE), valued that “the objective of this initiative is none other than to favour the payment of tax obligations, this time in any Post Office, which offers later business hours”.

Likewise, the mayor of Mijas highlighted that “Mijas has been the second municipality in the province to sign this agreement, after the capital of Malaga”.

The agreement will allow taxpayers to make their payments with the local Administration at any of the 2,370 customer service points offered by this state-owned company.

Andalusia has 420 Post Offices, of which 68 are located in Malaga and four are here in our municipality (Las Lagunas, La Cala, Mijas Village  and Calahonda). “This is an option that also benefits those taxpayers who do not live in the municipality of Mijas, since they will be able to carry out these steps wherever they reside, approaching their nearest Post Office”, explained the mayor,  Josele González. Also present at the signing of this agreement was the head of the Malaga Post Office Sector, Marina González, as well as the Finance Councillor of the Mijas Local Council, Roy Pérez (PSOE), who stated that “this resource joins the rest of options offered by the Town Hall to facilitate the payment of fees and taxes, such as express payment through the municipal website or the face-to-face system in municipal offices, now by appointment”.

An easy and comfortable service
The new Post Office service is provided through the electronic postal order that allows ordering payments to individuals or, as in this case to an administration, in order to satisfy a rate or tax for account entry.

In this way, citizens can access this service through an easy, comfortable procedure and with extensive customer service hours.

“From the Treasury we have been working for months to start this new service and collaborate with the Post Office so that the quality of the services provided for the benefit of citizens is increased and improved, while avoiding unnecessary waiting for those who wish to pay any kind of tribute dependent on their Town Hall”, highlighted the councillor for Finance in Mijas, Roy Pérez.
