Infoca offered a balance of the scope of the fire that was declared on Tuesday, September 21st, in the area of Cerrado del Águila shortly before 13:30 hours. The fire, they reported, was extinguished at 21:30 hours, although it was declared to be stabilized from 15:39 hours and controlled from 18 hours.
As announced by Infoca, the fire finally affected a total of ten hectares of scrubland which were burned.
A total of 26 Infoca ground troops worked together with the Mijas and Fuengirola firefighters in the extinction efforts. On behalf of Infoca, two helicopters were summoned to collaborate in the work (a Super Puma and a Kamov), two fire trucks, two BRICA, an operations technician and an environmental agent.
In addition, three trucks and ten agents from the Mijas Fire Department and another truck from Fuengirola were present. Local Police, Civil Guard, National Police and Civil Protection from Mijas also collaborated and the Local Council made vats available to the device.
The fire forced the preventive eviction of three houses, one of them affecting an elderly person who needed attention. In addition, a public address system was used for the preventive eviction of residents in the areas closest to the fire.
From Infoca, they recalled that we continue to be in the period of high risk of fire until October 15th and therefore, the current restrictions that contemplate the prohibition of burning stubble, barbecues on public land and circulation with motor vehicles off the public road network continue to be in force.
