This, together with the renovation of the fences in the peri-urban El Esparragal and Los Olivos parks, has an investment of 60,000 euros

The Parks & Gardens Department has completed the renovation of the security perimeter around the El Barco park in La Cala de Mijas, located next to the Pensioner's Centre. This project is part of the Playground Improvement Plan that the Mijas Town Hall has been carrying out for more than a year. “The entire perimeter has been changed, because it did not go around the entire park, and with this, we are adapting it to current regulations and ensuring the safety of our children. It is located in a beautiful place, near restaurants, and many families come to enjoy the park", declared Laura Moreno (PSOE), councillor for this area, who added: with this, we prevent children from being able to wander out of the park onto the road”.

The new fence is made of wood, more durable than the metal one, taking into account that this park is next to the sea. "We have adapted it because this perimeter fence would normally be made out of metal, but being close to the beach, wood is more durable, although its maintenance cost is higher", Moreno clarified.

The investment in this fence and in the peri-urban parks of El Esparragal (Las Lagunas) and Los Olivos (La Cala) amounts to 60,000 euros. From Parks & Gardens they recall that a budget of 153,000 euros has been allocated for the comprehensive renovation of La Muralla park.
