The outlet product comes from surplus merchandise of the different brands from previous seasons. For customers, the interest in this type of establishment lies in the very attractive prices.
“In these moments that we are living, in which we have already been experiencing a major crisis for a year and a half, a business model such as the outlet adapts and resists very well the changes in our surroundings. In this period of crisis in which we are all short of money, with many more concerns, and after not having spent much due to the situation we have experienced, the savings that have been generated in families can now be invested in these products at very competitive prices”, said the director of the El Corte Inglés Outlet, Pablo de la Torre.
Thanks to the conversion to outlet of the firm, jobs have been maintained at a high percentage.
The head of Institutional Relations and Communication of El Corte Inglés, Eduardo Barrero, pointed out that “the greatest satisfaction for us is that, if we don’t count the 90 members of staff of the 460 employees that we had before, who left voluntarily due to the Employment Regulation File (ERE) that the company carried out a series of months ago, the 100 transfers to the centres in Marbella, Bahía Málaga and Avenida de Andalucía; we are glad to say that fortunately more than 260 jobs have been maintained, approximately 60 in the outlet and the rest both in El Corte Inglés and Hipercor”.
In addition, Barrero assured that the rest of the floors will also be occupied soon, since “the trajectory of El Corte Inglés in the municipality of Mijas will continue as was said on the day of its inauguration about 15 years ago. El Corte Inglés has come to Mijas and intends to stay, and that is why we are working to create this commercial offer that will surely fill the three storeys that are still empty”.
Great expectations
The public has not taken long to arrive at the new establishment, as is the case of Immaculada Gómez, from Córdoba, who even came early before the opening of the doors, “I thought they opened at 9:30 and that’s why I came at 9, but it has been so worthwhile that I have decided to stay and eat here and continue this afternoon”.
As we were told, the wait has been worth it. Raquel Rueda appreciated the opening of the new outlet in a “super positive way, the feeling of going in and seeing so many people is great, feeling that trade is reviving and resurfacing”.
The El Corte Inglés Outlet extends over a surface of 7,000 square metres and is located on the first floor of the building, hosting more than 160 fashion brands.
