Ecologists demand the purification of drainage and rainwater before reaching the sea

  • The Malaga Federation of the group has awarded two black flags to beaches in the province for "pollution of sandbanks" and "mismanagement"
  • According to Ecologists in Action, the spills in Mijas affect, in particular, the surroundings of Calahonda beach |

According to the group, among the fifty hot spots, two of them are in Mijas, specifically, on Calahonda beach

The contamination of sandbanks of terrestrial public domain and environmental management based on the construction of beach bars and concrete basements along the Malaga coast have motivated the Malaga Federation of Ecologists in Action to award the province two black flags. From the group, they denounce that the rainwater that reaches the sea is a source of infection and contamination and they demand that the municipalities purify these waters before they are discharged into the sea. On the other hand, 'Ecologistas en Acción' also condemns the practice of “illegally occupying public spaces”, such as beaches, through the construction of beach bars and concrete basements. According to the environmental group, both actions affect fifty locations in the province and, specifically in Mijas, the surroundings of Calahonda beach.
