The Mijas Town Hall has announced that it has taken a ‘decisive’ step forward in promoting the municipal parking plan with the tendering of three of the projects included, which together will provide more than 1,000 parking spaces. These are the facilities planned for La Vega, Las Cañadas and the Paseo Costa del Sol in La Cala. It should be noted that this municipal plan envisages a total of around 4,000 spaces.
As reported on Friday the 19th by the councillor for Infrastructure and Works, Juan José Torres Trella (PP), these three projects are currently out to tender until the 9th of January, meaning that companies have until that date to submit their respective bids. The tender amounts for these three initiatives total 376.654 euros.
La Vega
The underground car park project in La Vega, Las Lagunas, will have around 480 spaces, depending on the project selected following the current tender process. It is planned to be built on a single level covering 14,000 square metres.The Mijas Town Hall has allocated a total of 125,551 euros for the drafting of the construction project that will define the works.

Las Cañadas
As for Las Cañadas, the municipal plan envisages approximately 280 parking spaces –depending on the final project–, distributed over four levels, with a base tender budget of 125,551 euros.

La Cala
Meanwhile, the car park planned for Paseo Costa del Sol in La Cala will have close to 600 parking spaces, spread over two levels, and will occupy an area of almost 9,000 square metres. The tender budget set by the Mijas Town Hall for this project is also 125,551 euros, as in the two previous cases.
Mijas pueblo
According to the Infrastructure and Works Department, the expansion of the Mijas Pueblo car park has already been approved and the construction project has been completed and in the hands of the Town Hall, which will put the works out to tender in 2026. This facility will add more than 600 new parking spaces.

The Los Santos car park, which is nearing completion, according to the Town Hall, will have 234 spaces, 190 of which will be for subscribers, with the remainder available for short-stay parking.
