The Mijas Town Hall organised a "necesary" training session on Tuesday for municipal staff "to maintain sound economic management", according to a press release. The class was aimed at heads of departments and services and was led by the heads of the Municipal Audit Office and the Budget and Accounting Management Body.
According to the councillor for Economy, Mario Bravo (PP), the purpose of the session "was to provide guidelines for good administrative management within the departments, in order to achieve greater efficiency".

The aforementioned Budget and Accounting Management Body has been recently created, as provided for in the regulations governing large-population municipalities, although it had not been implemented in the Mijas Town Hall despite the municipality obtaining this designation in September 2012. The Municipal Regulatory Ordinance (ROM), which includes the creation of this body, was approved on the 31st of December 2024.
This new body is already working on developing all the preliminary procedures required for drafting the 2026 municipal budget project, which formed the context for Tuesday’s meeting.
