On Thursday 23rd, the Mijas Craft Association (AAM) presented its charity calendar for 2026. On this occasion, all proceeds will go to AFA Mijas, a collective with which it has collaborated on previous occasions and which it always keeps in mind.
The calendar celebrates the process as much as the final pieces, the time, effort, love, and dedication that each artisan invests to bring a creation to life. This is what the photographs in the 2026 calendar presented by the Mijas Craft Association show. According to its president, Sonia Lekuona, “This year we are going to show the hidden side of craftsmanship. We are going to highlight the work, the hours artisans devote to each piece, all the costs involved, the daily effort, attending markets, loading and unloading merchandise. We want to show the day-to-day that people don’t see, because they only see the final piece”.

The association is once again producing its charity calendar with the support of the Culture Department, Mijas Comunicación and several sponsors. The councillor for Culture, Juan Carlos Maldonado (PMP), thanked the artisans for their solidarity and highlighted “the important work of AFA Mijas, which reaches all families. I would also like to thank, on behalf of the Culture Department, the artisans for their ongoing collaboration, and Mijas Comunicación for producing and designing this calendar.
Destination of the funds
In this 2026 edition, all proceeds from this calendar will go to AFA Mijas to support its various social projects with the elderly. The director of the day centre, Mari Carmen López, thanked the artisans “for remembering our work. We are going to use the money raised to buy cognitive stimulation materials for the treatment of people with dementia”.

Lekuona assured that “AFA meets all the requirements to be beneficiaries. They are local, accesible, and we know about their outstanding work with the elderly. What’s more, all of us have someone in our family who has been or will be cared for here”.
