This Tuesday, 21st, there will be a talk in German offering tips on planning for old age

The Foreigners Department in Mijas has reached the halfway point in its programme of activities for this autumn, which began on the 16th of September with the presentation of Toastmasters Costa del Soul Speakers. This was followed by events such as the coworking sessions for female entrepreneurs organised by Costa Women, the British Legion parade and the talk ‘Update on the Tourist Apartment Law’ on Tuesday 14th.

The next activity will be a talk in German on the 21st of October entitled ‘How to enjoy life in old age’, offering advice on planning for and enjoying retirement. This talk, explained department technician, Katja Thirion, is aimed at both German-speaking residents and non-residents. The talk will be given by Christiane Rudigier, a retirement planning exper, and Jutta Tackmann, a solicitor. Attendance is free, but registration is required via email at frd@mijas.es or WhatsApp at 676 052 944.

Talk on holiday rentals

On Tuesday 14th, the Foreigners Department held a talk on the latest changes regarding the rental of tourist apartments. The session was led by the company Intercala, through the solicitor and property manager  José Luis Navarro, who also presented his book ‘Tourist apartments in homeowners’ associations’. “I was talking to José Luis Navarro and asked him how the book we presented last year was doing, and he said, ‘there have been changes and I’m publishing a new book’, so we organised a new talk to update the latest developments”, said the Foreigners Department technician, Katja Thirion.

In the book, Navarro outlines the new regulations introduced in developments where owners rent out their flats to tourists, something that is not always welcomed by all owners.

“There is a lot of contradiction, even among the public administrations themselves, which are responsible for processing and managing this. There is also a lot of uncertainty, and the regulation of the laws is not as precise as it should be”, said José Luis Navarro, lawyer and property manager at Intercala.
