For three days, the La Cala Youth Association, together with the Youth Department of Mijas Town Hall, organised a range of free activities as part of the Youth Fair. The first of these was bubble football, held on Thursday 18th of September at the Francisco Santana 'Paquirri' municipal pitch in La Cala.
"We wanted to do something different, and we thought this was an interesting, innovative activity that you don't usually see here, so that children can discover noew kinds of activities, above all, have fun", said the president of the collective, Paula Moreno.

On Friday, 19th of September, La Butibamba Park hosted a children's party with numerous activities for the little ones, including face painting and popular games such as musical chairs, scarf game and bowling. The councillors for Youth, Melisa Ceballos (PP), and Citizen Participation, Silvia Marín (PP), were present. "These activities are organised for children and families to enjoy these traditional games, which are to encourage the little ones to step away from screens for a while", said Ceballos.

The closing party of the first La Cala Youth Fair took place at the La Cala de Mijas Branch Office, supported by several local businesses. Bingo was the main attraction on Saturday night, but the food and music were also enjoyed by those attending.

Institutional support
This was the first edition of the initiative, supported by Mijas Town Hall, but given its success it looks set to return next year. This was confirmed by the Councillor for Youth, Melisa Ceballos (PP), who attended the party on Saturday. "We are grateful for this fair, which brings together people of all ages, young children, adults, grandparents... Everyone is enjoying the music and the activities and, ultimately, it's about spending time family, which is what really matters. This is the very first time this fair has been held and it has been very well received. We hope that next year it will be even bigger and better".
