Each season, PAD organises a charity market, setting up a stall with the help of volunteers from the shelter to raise funds primarily for common and veterinary expenses. The most recent market was held in the La Cala Branch Office Square on Sunday 4th of May. “Veterinary costs each month are very high, but we also have to cover rent, water, electricity, phone bills…”, explained PAD’s treasurer, Mariló Román.
The shelter also reported that the number of abandoned animals is worrying. “Every day we receive dogs, people say they’ve found them on the street or that they can no longer look after them”, Román said.
That’s why fundraising initiatives like this are essential for PAD, as they allow the shelter to continue caring for the dogs that, fortunately, end up in their facilities. Citizen's support is essential, whether through donations or volunteer work. More information is available on their website.
As a reminder, PAD’s shelter is located next to the Royalvet Veterinary Hospital.
