She is from Seville but has lived in Mijas for years, and on Saturday 1sr of February was chosen to represent Spain in the next Eurovision Song Contest, to be held in May in the Swiss city of Basel. We are talking about the singer Melody, who will soon be the voice of Spain in Europe, with a song that pays tribute to the great divas, not only in music, but also in life.

Melody's performance on Saturday stood out for its strength and its great staging, two keys that served to engage both the audience and the jury from start to finish. 'Esa Diva' was one of the favourites songs of the fourth edition of Benidorm Fest. In the final, the artist from Seville, who has lived in Mijas for years, obtained the highest score, crowning herself as the winner of the night, and becoming the next representative of Spain at Eurovision 2025, which will take place on the 17th of May.

Melody dedicated her victory to her family, but especially to her son, her baby Cairo, while she promised to do everything in her power and heart to let all Europe know that there are great voices in Spain. 

 

Great voices and great talent like hers, who we have known for years here in our municipality. In fact, just a few months ago she was one of the protagonists of the institutional act of the Day of Andalusia (February 28th). The artist was also part of the line-up for the Mijas Fair 2024, but the concert had to be cancelled due to rain. 

For Mijas, as the mayoress Ana Mata pointed out this weekend, it is a pride to have neighbours like Melody, who lives for music and has been demonstrating this since she was a child. These months will be intense and hard for the singer, but she will surely face them as she has always done, with a big smile and a lot of dedication, which she has been demonstrating all these years in which she has become little by little, one of the great divas of Spanish music.
