The Mijas Town Hall, through its Culture Department, and in collaboration with Percusión Social Espacio Drang, brought together twenty people for a fun and free social drumming workshop on Sunday 2nd, leaving everyone with a smile on their face and the desire for more. One of the promoters of the project, Gisela Narvaja, explained that this "is a workshop that seeks to connect people through rhythms, which in this case are Brazilian batucada, but with sign language, to interact and make everyone feel that they can make music".
The message of Espacio Drang is clear: music belongs to all of us, and together we can create and enjoy it, just as our ancestors did when they met to play and sing. With twenty participants and an equally long waiting list, the workshop became a resounding success. ‘"he profile of the participants is mostly middle-aged and many women, all eager to learn and enjoy", Narvaja added.
Antonio Rincón, creative director of Percusión Social Espacio Drang, offered this workshop whose first class focused on an introduction and practice with percussion instruments and will be followed by basic rhythm methodology on Sunday 9th of February; exercises and dynamics for percussion ensemble on the 16th of February; and ending with dynamics and musical percussion exercises on the 23rd of February. Registration is required by calling 952 59 03 80 or emailing cultura@mijas.es.
With Espacio Drang, Mijas continues to prove that music is a powerful tool to bring people together and create unforgettable moments. Don't miss the next workshops and come and enjoy the rhythm and joy in La Cala.
