As we announced a few days ago, Mijas will have its own New Year's Concert by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Málaga. Therefore, to discuss all the details of this event, the artistic director of this ensemble, José Luis López, and the councillor for Culture of the Mijas Town Hall, Juan Carlos Maldonado (PMP) visited the studio of Mijas Communication on Tuesday 10th.
Take note of this appointment: the 27th of December, at 20:00 hours, at the Manuel España Theatre in Las Lagunas. That is the date and place chosen for this show that promises to leave no one indifferent, as it will feature a great programme, as López explained: "The programme is based on two of the best-known musical genres that are deeply rooted in two regions with a long musical tradition. One is Spain and the other is Vienna. Mijas will be lucky enough to enjoy it, although in a more Andalusian version. "It will include well-known Viennese pieces such as ‘The Blue Danube’, ‘The Hunting Polka’ or the waltz from ‘Swan Lake’, and with the aim of defending our musical-cultural heritage, pieces such as ‘La zarzuela’ will be interspersed between them, as well as the ‘Radetzky March’ to accompany with hand-clapping", said José Luis.
Musical and cultural dissemination
According to the director, "everyone likes classical music, as I always say, those who say they don't like it, is because they don't know it yet, and this is an ideal concert because it will captivate everyone with a musical genre that reaches them directly without the need to be great experts". With this event, the Malaga Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1945 and whose commitment has always been to disseminate music and culture throughout the province, comes back to Mijas after the summer event which was a great success and from the department want to continue promoting these activities.
"Through classical music we also want to promote Mijas as the municipality that it is, the third in the province of Malaga, with high level activities, responding to needs and requests of the neighbours, also do not forget that we also have 46% of foreign population and they really appreciate classical music, therefore, we respond to the entire municipality", said the councillor. Classical music joins the cultural offer of Mijas with this free show for the whole family.
