This Wednesday 30th of October, the Local Assembly of the Mijas Red Cross will celebrate the ‘Día de la Banderita’. A solidarity event that will take place at different parts of the town, with the participation of volunteers and technical staff of the organisation. As explained by the vice-presidente of the Local Assembly, "during the day, we will set up information tables in different parts of the town, in which the attendees can learn about the work carried out by the red cross, and will have the opportunity to collaborate with this cause".

The event will take place in Las Lagunas, and will begin at the Cultural centre from 10 to 14 hours. In the afternoon, the Red Cross team will move to the Health Centre, where they will be from 16 to 19 hours. Finally they will be at the Hogar del Jubilado, from 21 hours until midnight. The celebration of the Día de la Banderita will be brought to a close, with information tables and allowing all citizens the opportunity to collaborate in this cause. 

With the support of local companies such as Mercadona and Hipercor, the Red Cross continues to help vulnerable families. Every day, they assist around fifteen families who go in search of food and other basic goods. "We do not only provide ambulance services, but we also help in many other ways", said Maria Martinez.

To ensure full coverage of the information points, the team of volunteers will rotate in shifts, allowing everyone to participate in this day of solidarity and awareness.
