The Town Hall has been asking for the resolution of the problems, which were found after the open day held by the previous Executive, for "almost a year"

The work on the Olympic swimming pool in La Cala and the multi-purpose building that houses it, which started on February 1st, 2021 during the previous term of office, has not yet been accepted by the Mijas Town Hall. The mayoress, Ana Mata (PP), explained that this is due to several flaws that have been detected in the facilities in the last year and after the open day held by the previous government team in October last year.

The mayoress explained that "an open day was held for something that had not yet been finished. Therefore, the acceptance of the work on the swimming pool has not been feasible because the company still has many issues that need to be repaired so that when it is accepted at least it can be used normally" and "does not generate any problems for the Town Hall in terms of maintenance”. In this sense, Mata said that "we have been making objections to the company about problems that have been found after the execution of the work: damps, problems of water leaks in the pool, windows that cannot be opened and even dirt that has not been removed by the company that carried out the works".

The mayoress affirmed that since she took office in November last year, they have been ‘requesting’ the construction company to resolve all the problems detected, one of them in the pool basin: "We hope that the cracks that have caused a leak in the pool basin have been properly sealed and that we can use the facilities; we are looking forward to opening it and offering it to the municipality of Mijas". In this respect the mayoress explained that as it is a "public service" there has been no problem in filling the pool. "The important thing is that all the deficiencies that have been identified technically are being addressed and that when they are solved we can take over the pool and put it at the disposal of all swimming enthusiasts", she concluded.
