Yesterday, we visited the headquarters of the association New Culture for Social Development, in Las Lagunas, which received 1600 kilos of non-perishable food from Bancosol, that will be delivered in the next days to the families in need.
Every two months, Bancosol, the food bank of the Costa del Sol, supplies food to this association, which, as its secretary, Rosa Planelles, explained, "we are currently attending to 32 families at risk of social exclusion".
This important work for the community would be impossible to accomplish without the appropriate machinery. That is why, as the councillor for Social Services, Daniel Gómez Teruel (PP), explained, "this department has been working with the association for some time now, lending lorries and vans depending on the amount of food they receive, and providing staff to help them in their altruistic work".
The Social Inclusion department appreciates the work that groups like this one do in the municipality. This was highlighted by the councillor responsible for the department, Melisa Ceballos, who emphasised that New Culture for Social Development "works every day to help the people who need it most".
But as well as supplying food to the families that need it most, the group's volunteers also carry out other tasks. As Rosa explained, the association "helps them to look for jobs, to write their CVs, advising people when they have a problem and guiding them on how to solve it, in other words, the group does a great social work without receiving anything in return; well, they do receive something, they receive the affection and love of all the families".
The headquarters of the association New Culture for Social Development is located in San Braulio street, in the former Branch Office building in Las Lagunas.
