The Association of Relatives of Alzheimer's patients of Fuengirola-Mijas Costa celebrated last Friday its annual charity dinner

Last Friday, 21st of June, the Alzheimer's Association of Fuengirola-Mijas Costa held its traditional annual charity dinner at the IPV Palace Hotel in Fuengirola. The event was attended by a large number of people who collaborated with their donations. Paqui Lebrón, the president of the association, pointed out that this dinner has a double purpose: "To raise funds to support the day centre and to raise awareness of the disease and the families who are suffering from it".

The Mijas Town Hall supported this cause, with the presence of several councillors from the municipal government, who praised the work carried out by AFA Fuengirola-Mijas Costa and the important social work it does.

  • Numerosas personas se dieron cita en este evento benéfico.

Among others, the councillor for Social Inclusion, Melisa Ceballos (PP), was present at the event, and assured that "no matter where you are from, it can happen to you and, unfortunately, there are more and more people who are suffering from it and we have to give visibility to the disease, support them and try to find a cure and a way to improve their quality of life".

For his part, the Vox councillor Francisco Jerez declared that "we are all human, and it can happen to anyone, so it is important that they (the association) are prepared, just in case it happens to us, just as it does with blood donation and other things, so we have to support them".

Also in attendance was the opposition councillor and spokesman for the Ciudadanos municipal group in the Mijas Town Hall, José Carlos Martín: "It is a dinner that has a particular purpose, which is to collaborate, to help, to do our bit for this association that does such a good job, for those people who suffer from this disease and their families who also suffer".
