The mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata, chaired yesterday a meeting to coordinate, programme, update and review the Municipal Emergency Plan in view of the beginning of the high fire risk season. The meeting was attended by all the areas involved, as well as representatives of the Fire Brigade, Local Police, Emergency Services and Civil Protection.

This meeting is more important every year around this time, given the proximity of summer, considered the period of highest fire risk. However, the current circumstances and the drought period we experienced, which caused fires in November, force the government team to work more frequently in this regard and to continuously monitor the situation in order to deal with an emergency situation at any time of the year.
